How can we help you?
You’ve purchased hand dyed yarn, exciting! So what to know:
Hand dyed yarn is a masterpiece of creativity, from us the dyers, and to you the maker. Each skein is unique onto itself, and therefore colours may vary slightly from one skein to the next. In order to create unified colour in your fabric, we highly suggest alternating hand dyed skeins every 2nd row (round) to prevent pooling and unevenness. We try our very best to make our photos as accurate as possible but please be mindful that different fibres, blends, and such variants like superwash vs non-superwash uptake dye differently. Some more vibrant, and some more muted.
- - We always recommend handwashing all knit garments in lukewarm water and then laying flat to dry on blocking mats or a clean towel. If you do decide to wash your garment in a washing machine, please keep in mind that although some of our yarn bases are superwash, and some are non-superwash. Non-superwash fibres should NOT be be washed in the washing machine and are at a very probable risk to felt.
- - NOTE - Although it is every dyer’s mission to ensure their hand dyed fibre is fully exhausted and washed to prevent bleeding… there are some acid dyes that are extremely saturated, and are well known to be a bit finicky. Some of these more saturated colourways may leave a slight tinge to the washing water during the first 1 or 2 washes. For deep saturated colourways, it is our suggestion that these projects be wash separately from other fibre items, and to use wash water on the more cooler side of “lukewarm” with a wool wash product like”Soak” or “Eucalan”.
- - Some of our colourways are produced on both superwash and non-superwash bases. Please check your cart and confirm you have added the correct base before submitting your order, as well as checking your skein tags upon arrival of your purchase. For many fibreists, the care of non-superwash 100% fibres and the possibility of an accidental machine wash and dry is too much for their hectic lifestyle, and thus superwash fibres alleviate and accidental felt and shrinkage
